The Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission has announced an open call to access its Nanobiotechnology Laboratory located in Ispra (Italy) free-of-charge. Travel and subsistence support is also possible to applicants from EU Member States and Associated Countries (see below).
The Laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities designed to foster interdisciplinary studies. A special emphasis lies on characterisation of nanomaterials, micro-nanoplastics, nanomedicines, advanced materials and their interactions with biological systems, as well as on the detection, identification and characterisation of nanomaterials in food and consumer products.
Priority topics of the call are:
- Nanomaterial characterisation including their interactions with biological systems (culture media, proteins, etc.)
- Detection of nanomaterials and nano(micro)plastics in complex matrices
- Surface chemical analysis of macro and nanomaterials. Surface modification and nano-fabrication
- Biomolecular interaction studies, characterisation of antibodies and antigens, bio-interfaces characterisation
- Advanced material characterisation for non-bio-applications (energy, transport, circular economy, environment etc.).
Researchers intending to apply for this call can be from universities, research or public institutions, or from Small-Medium-Enterprises (SMEs) from an EU Member State, or country associated to the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation Horizon 2020.
